A.J. Pollock versus the Dodgers
It has long been rumored, and sometimes admitted, that managers and GM’s often want to acquire opponents’ players who have done particularly well against them and their team that now wants to acquire them. One sure way to prevent that player from beating you again and again: get him on your team.
A.J. Pollock during his career has been a terror against the Dodgers: producing
.291/.352/.532 overall and .357/.426/.673 in games at home in Arizona.
A.J. Pollock career versus the Dodgers, at LA and at Arizona:
|A.J. Pollock versus the Dodgers:|
|all vs LA||89||327||57||95||17||43||9||0.291||0.352||0.532|
|gms at LA||44||159||21||35||6||18||1||0.220||0.269||0.384|
|gms at AZ||45||168||36||60||11||25||8||0.357||0.426||0.673|
What is less obvious is that middle line: how Pollock has done at L.A., which is not good: .220/.269/.384. And now Pollock plays half his games there. We like to think that the people with the money and the scouts and all that knowledge always know exactly what they are doing, but sometimes you have to wonder.
